the old Olympic       The original Olympic Games which have a long history were first recorded in 776 BC in Olympia, Greece, Athens.The ancient Olympic Games were a four-yearly event with sporting activities as its main content and the cessation of hostilities among the city states in Greece as its main characteristic.

      The first number of Olympic Games had only one event, called the stade. By the late 8th century BC, events included running, wrestling, boxing, pancratium (a mixture of boxing and wrestling), chariot racing, a footrace with heavy armor, and the pentathlon.The Olympic Games stopped after the year 393 AD.

 

 

Modern Olympic Games

flagThe first Olympic Games in modern times happened in 1896.311 competitors from 13 countries joined in the games.After that more and more countries joined in the games.It was a French man-- Pierre de Coubertin who dreamt up an ambitious project of Modern Olympic Games, although others before him had tried to revive them during the 19th century. Drawing inspiration from the ancient Olympic Games, he decided to create the modern ones. With this purpose, he founded the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in 1894 in Paris. The new committee set itself the objective of organizing the first Olympic Games of modern times.
The date of the first Modern Olympic Games, 1896, marked the beginning of an extraordinary adventure that has now lasted for over a century.
